Body Awareness

9/9/2014

"Give a man a fish, he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he will eat for the rest of his life."

When you have an ailment you go to the doctor and they prescribe medicine to fix the pain. The pain usually comes back if the behavior pattern does not change. Same thing happens with fitness. People go to the health club to get fit. Some of their bodies change for a while, and some never do. They usually imitate what they observe the exercise to be, and do it incorrectly. Their perception is very limited. JUST BREATHE PILATES BY Christy is a method where clients gather with friends to gain body awareness and to improve their health and well-being. Instead of going through the motions while following a routine or series of movements, each client will learn the focus of each exercise and the targeted muscles, and then address the movement according to their physical needs and limitations.

Runner, cyclist, athlete, or non-athlete all will agree that they have heard about the benefits of Pilates. People of all ages and various levels of fitness who have begun doing Pilates exercises talk about their abdominal strength, posture alignment, overall flexibility and balance.

Pilates is an education in body awareness. It teaches participants how to train their minds while they build symmetry and coordination throughout the body. The reason they call it a mind/body exercise is because one has to focus on what muscles are stabilizing while performing the exercise, and integrating breath all within their personal framework and individual goals. The breath and the abdominal muscles are the CORE of each exercise, and usually the major stabilizer. Too often most people will use their shoulders, quadriceps or buttocks instead of the core. They will also breathe very shallow or too deeply from the chest.

Once body awareness is achieved the first thought is about the basic principles of Pilates and how to integrate them. Once you have most the fuel efficient approach your goals are within reach. JUST BREATHEJ)

Breath Notes - Perseverance, a poem

11/22/2013

Breath Notes – Perserverance – A Poem Stress is inherent not in an event, but rather in how we perceive that event.

“When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,

When the road you’re trudging seems all-uphill,

When the funds are low and the debts are high,

And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit, REST-if you must-but don’t you quit.

Success is failure turned inside out-

The silver tint of the cloud of doubt,

And you never can tell how close you are,

It may be near when it seems afar.

So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit-

It’s when things seem worse that you mustn’t quit.”

                                                                                                             - Author unknown

By modifying one’s perceptions, the degree of stress is reduced significantly. Before reacting to the circumstances around you, change your focus towards spiritual and physical peace. And trust that your circumstances will take care of themselves. JUST BREATHE ……….

I love Pilates because it connects me to the core of my being. I want to share my love of it with others so that they can too, feel alive.
